Unwavering fascination. Indestructible. Passion, devotion, above all adverse considerations. No matter the temperatures, the hours, the lack of resources. Professional archaeology, dusting off a grid of earth for hours with a brush in the hope of finding a tiny piece of history, is for archaeologists a piece of Disneyland in the middle of nowhere. Juan Manuel Jiménez Arenas, professor of Prehistory and Archaeology at the University of Granada, has been in charge of the Orce project for eight years, and is preparing next summer's campaign with the enthusiasm of someone returning to the oracle of happiness.
