The Department of Culture of the Andalusian Regional Government will invest €300,000 in archaeological campaigns at the Orce site through 2020, an effort that will help showcase to the world “the uniqueness and exceptional nature” of this area in the north of the province of Granada. This was stated by the Minister of Culture, Miguel Ángel Vázquez, who addressed the matter during a visit to Orce, where he explained that a new phase is beginning in this project with the launch of the research plan for the 2017–2020 period. “Under this new framework, four annual campaigns are planned, with an investment of €75,000 each,” explained Vázquez, who was accompanied on the visit by the town’s mayor, José Ramón Martínez; the rector of the University of Granada, Pilar Aranda; and the director of the General Research Plan for the site, Juan Manuel Jiménez Arenas, professor of Prehistory and Archaeology at the University of Granada.
